Can I send gift after the first day of the Chinese New Year Holiday?

You may wonder the above question, the answer is of course you can! Unlike other holidays around the work, for example Christmas holiday that you are not expected to give gifts to other ones after Christmas day(12.25), Chinese Spring Festival last as long as 15 days, from the first day of the lunar calendar to the 15th day of the lunar month, the whole celebration lasts 15 days, ended with the Lantern Festival. However, the peak celebration is the lunar new years eve and the first day of the lunar month.

We all sometimes forgetting things, and giving gift is no exception. Maybe we were busy, maybe we were at some points that unable to buy gifts for our loved ones, or maybe any reason that caused us delaying to sending presents on an important occasion, such as CNY holiday, which is the biggest and most significant holiday for Chinese people.

Even you forgot the occasion and just realized you should buy a holiday gift to your Chinese counterparts as late as today, you should not be upset, as you still have chance to sending gift on time for this occasion, do understand that CNY holiday last 15 days! Any presents sent before the Lantern Festival can be regarded as Chinese New Year Gifts. And you may not realize that it is even more common that send gifts after the lunar new year eve( this is a big difference from Christmas), according to Chinese custom, during CNY, people visit the relatives and friends from first day of the first lunar month to 15th day of the same month, when people goes to the house of other’s person, they are expected to bring along gifts to the host of the house. So you can see, the gifts sent on any day before the last day of the celebration is considered appropriate and even be more reflective on Chinese culture.
