  4. Cleome, also known as phoenix grass, purple dragon, spiderflower, enjoy hot weather or half shade condition. It's stems are long and strong, and the racemes form a lush flower bud. The color is red and white, and the long stamens extend out of the corolla, resembling spiders and dragons. Yes, quite interesting. When the cultivars are open, the petals slowly open, and the long claws are bent to pop out of the flowers. The process is like the slow motion of a movie; the petals are light and elegant when in full bloom, like butterflies fly.
