White Day in Easter Asia Countries

This article comes later as the White Day has already passed three days! The reason why we still decided to lunch this blog is during last week , we received a number of inquiries from our customers who were earnest to know more about this special day and hope the staff at YSG can share some knowledge and information with them in this regard.

To be honest, not many people know much about White Day only because it is primarily celebrated in East Asia regions such as Japan, South Korea, China (Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macau), and some of South Eastern countries like Malaysia and Philippines. What is White Day and What is the day celebrate for? You may ask, the question is not uncommon every among those people in the above-mentioned regions where the holiday is actually well observed. White Day, according to the Wikipedia: is a day that is marked in Japan, South Korea, Vietnam, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Malaysia and China on March 14, one month after Valentine's Day. Valentine's Day is typically observed by girls and women presenting chocolate gifts, usually to boys or men, as an expression of love, courtesy, or social obligation. So from this explanation, we can draw an conclusion that the WD is somewhat associated with the Valentine’s Day, which is happened celebrated just a month ago, at WD, the female usually use this day as an opportunity to reciprocate the gift they received on Feb 14 with another gift to their male counterpart. In our eastern culture, we value the importance to repay the favor back to the people that once gave us their favors and let them know their kind gesture is not underestimated. By returning a gift to the person at later time from whom we receive the gift is a kind of norm and custom we observed for thousand years.

So let’s get to the point, what are the best gifts that you can send as a reciprocation gift? In fact there are many options to choose, from a box of fine chocolate to something the receiver can use at their daily life, from a pot refreshing green plant to a cute teddy bear, the options is endless and your choice basically depend on the relationship you have with the gift receiver. In general, the reciprocate gift on White Day needn’t to be very expensive or luxury category though, it should be represented of your sentiment of appreciation toward the person the gift is sending to, remember, it’s the thought that counts.
